At the center of this ring rests an oval faceted emerald of approximately 4,15 carat, a gemstone that has likely witnessed more history than any of us ever will. Mined, cut, traded, worn, and cherished long before the modern world took shape, it carries the quiet mystery that only historic gemstones possess. Where exactly it traveled before arriving here is unknown. That, perhaps, is part of its appeal. The stone is quite shallow but has a wide spread given a very big impression! The Emerald measures 13.7x11x5.5mm.
Surrounding the emerald are twenty-four old mine cushion cut diamonds totaling approximately 2.40 carat. Unlike their modern counterparts, old mine cushion cut diamonds were fashioned by hand and by eye, each possessing its own subtle character. Their larger facets produce a softer, slower scintillation, less brilliance perhaps, but often more charm. Candlelight, gaslight, and early electric light were their intended stage, and they continue to glow with a warmth and personality that modern precision-cut stones does not replicate.
