Faustina the Younger (130–175 CE)
Daughter of Antoninus Pius and wife of Marcus Aurelius, Faustina the Younger lived at the heart of Rome’s most celebrated dynasty. She earned the title Mater Castrorum — “Mother of the Camp” — for accompanying Marcus on military campaigns, an unusual role for an empress. Renowned for her grace and resilience, she also gave birth to thirteen children — a feat that would make even today’s multitasking mothers pause in admiration. Her legacy lies not only in securing the Antonine line but also in embodying strength, adaptability, and endurance — qualities that continue to resonate with women balancing family, duty, and identity in the modern world.

Bulgari Monete Collection
Part of Bulgari’s Heritage Collection, the Monete jewels carry a unique cultural currency. Reaching back through the centuries, they honor antiquity by setting authentic ancient coins within the brilliance of Bulgari’s modern design. Like rare gems of inestimable historical value, these coins are given new life as precious jewels, their irregularities and signs of wear carefully preserved as testaments to their journey through time.

The Monete line first emerged in the 1960s, when Rome was the glittering stage of La Dolce Vita. In this glamorous era, Bulgari embraced the coin as both ornament and narrative, celebrating the family’s Greek and Roman roots while showcasing artisanal craftsmanship, avant-garde materials, and bold design.

Known in antiquity as gemme nummarie — “nummary gems” — these rare coins, sourced from antiquarians and auctions, are as precious as gemstones. Each jewel becomes not only a stylish accessory but also a conversation piece, embodying both cultural heritage and timeless beauty. Today, Monete remains one of Bulgari’s most enduring and iconic collections.
