**SOLD** Step-Cut 5.61ct Peridot Solitaire Ring, 1936.

Category:

An elegant 1936 solitaire ring featuring a natural untreated step-cut peridot, prized for its vivid olive-green hue with golden undertones. Popular in the 1930s, this cut reflects the era’s preference for geometric precision and architectural elegance, while the peridot’s fresh, luminous color adds warmth and vitality to this refined Art Deco design.

About Peridot:
More than a thousand years ago, Egyptians fashioned beads from golden-green crystals mined on a island in the Red Sea. Known to the Greeks and Romans as Topazios, this island off the coast of Egypt was one of the most important sources for fine peridot, the gem variety of the olivine-family mineral forsterite. Renamed peridot in the eighteenth century. Other major sources of Peridot include: Burma, the U.S., Norway, Brazil, China, Australia and Pakistan. Peridot is a magnesium-iron silicate; pure forsterite is colorless, but iron atoms replacing some of the magnesium produce the green shades.
