1.90ct Ruby and 2.95ct Diamond Bombé Ring by CF Carlman, Stockholm, 1971
Bold, colorful, and oversized — meant to draw attention! The coolness of the colorless diamonds is heightened by white gold, while accentuating the warmth of the ruby.
The bold curved shape along with the high quality vibrant gemstones makes this an impressive statement piece. The name ‘bombé’ comes from the French and literally means ‘bomb-shaped’. This style of ring is seen from the Edwardian period onwards however it is in the vintage 1950s, 60s and 70s that this shaping became all the rage.
